The Sunrise Swans Synchronized Swimming team has been in the Citrus Heights area since 1968. Its purpose is to foster and build teamwork, self-esteem, friendships, and synchronized swimming skills in youths from the surrounding areas. Today, the Swans continue this proud tradition, as well as showcasing the talent and skills learned by each swimmer by presenting an annual Watershow as the highlight of our season
Our Team Parents play a key role in the success of the team by managing the business aspect of running a competitive, recreational sports team. It is without a doubt, that the team could not function without the support of the parents. As a competitive team, our swimmers practice incredibly hard, since the season is typically only 12 weeks long. The Sunrise Swans operates as an independent recreational team, however, and we are affiliated with the local Valley-Foothill Competitive Aquatics League (VFCAL), and hold practices at the Sunrise Parks and recreational facility at Antelope Community Pool
Our team swimmers are classified in two levels: Novice and Intermediate. All swimmers start at the Novice level (unless petitioned and approved by VFCAL) and qualify for Intermediate level based on their figures placement at the all-team championships meet in July, at the end of the VFCAL season.
Head Coach Jamie: Hello! My name is Jamie Swaringen. I began synchronized swimming in 2005 with the Roseville Aquabunnies, then joined the Sunrise Swans in 2006, and have been with the Swans ever since. I swam for the Swans for 10 years and was a volunteer novice coach during the last 4 years of my synchro career. This 2023 season will be my eighth year as an official coach of the Sunrise Swans, and it has been such a pleasure working with such amazing and talented swimmers! Synchronized swimming is such a passion of mine and has been for so many years. This team is my family, the pool deck is my home, and I only hope that by being a coach I can help our swimmers build their skills, create lasting memories, and fall in love with the beautiful sport of synchronized swimming.
Assistant Coach Devyn: Hello Swan's families! I am coach Devyn. I joined the Swans as a swimmer in 2008 when I was 10 years old. I swam with the swans until I was 17 and started coaching when I was 16. I have experienced every aspect of our synchro league over the years. I have been a swimmer, coach, judge, and swim sister. After all of the changes and upheaval our team has seen, I am excited to be back to see our team flourish.
Figures Coach Kristy: Hello. I am Coach Kristy. This is my 14th year on the swans. I have worn several hats throughout my years. I have been a parent, a judge, head referee, and board president in addition to a coach. This will be my 12th year helping out with coaching. I generally work on figures and fundamentals with the swimmers. I am excited to be a part of this new season.
